Personal Statement

As a clinical genetics nurse practitioner, I offer comprehensive genetic cancer risk assessment services. This includes counseling and testing, to help patients understand their personal, familial, and genetic risk factors to make informed decisions about cancer prevention and screening. My experience as a nurse at MSKCC exposed me to both the challenges and opportunities in cancer prevention. This experience has made a lasting impact on my commitment to identifying high-risk individuals and promoting prevention strategies.

My aim is to empower patients and families with the knowledge and support needed to navigate the complexities of genetic information, treatment options, and reproductive choices based on their risk assessment. I’ve witnessed firsthand the positive impact of early detection and prevention on health outcomes. For patients who are high risk, our program works collaboratively with other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care, imaging, medical interventions, or ongoing monitoring is recommended.
